FISN Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Deep Fission is attractive because it pairs proven pressurized-water reactor technology with a deep-borehole design that can cut capex by 70% to 80%, lower overnight construction costs to about $152M for FOAK and roughly $84M for NOAK, and target an LCOE of $50 to $70/MWh versus much higher legacy nuclear costs. Its regulatory and commercial position also looks strong: the DOE selected it for the Reactor Pilot Program, approved its NSDA in August 2026, and the company has already signed non-binding LOIs totaling about 18.5 GW while advancing work at Parsons, Kansas and completing a full-scale prototype canister test. The bull case is further reinforced by LEU fuel sourcing, mature drilling and geothermal supply chains, and powerful demand tailwinds from AI data centers, digital infrastructure, and policy support for accelerated nuclear deployment.
Bears say
Deep Fission is a speculative pre-revenue nuclear developer with no NRC commercial approval, limited operating history, and a financing-heavy model that still requires additional capital for its borehole program and pilot reactor. Its 2Q26 results underscore the burn: EPS was ($0.56), operating expenses rose to $31.6 million, and adjusted EBITDA fell to ($24.2) million, while free cash flow is expected to remain negative through 2034E. Although the Gravity Reactor has a sizable LOI pipeline and a stated ~$61/MWh NOAK LCOE, the negative outlook reflects execution, drilling, licensing, supply-chain, and commercialization risks that could delay or prevent meaningful revenue conversion.
