IAMGOLD (IAG) Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Iamgold is positioned for stronger fundamentals as Côté’s ramp-up shifts the portfolio toward Canada and drives production, while Essakane continues to fund deleveraging and shareholder returns without adding balance-sheet risk. The company has already fully repaid its revolving credit facility and cut long-term debt from $1.1 billion in Q2 2025 to $449 million in Q2 2026, with $501 million of cash and an undrawn $850 million revolver providing about $1.35 billion of liquidity. Côté’s low-cost profile, with AISC expected to fall to $1,334/oz in 2027 and FCF nearly doubling from $430 million in 2026 to over $800 million in 2027-28, supports a higher-quality earnings mix, while buybacks of 27.9 million shares for $510.4 million through August 5, 2026 reinforce capital returns.
Bears say
Iamgold is facing a negative outlook because its earnings and cash flow are heavily exposed to gold prices, with fixed costs and uncapped royalties at Essakane magnifying downside if bullion weakens, while higher interest rates and a stronger U.S. dollar can pressure gold further. Operationally, the company remains vulnerable to execution risk at Côté, jurisdictional and security disruptions in Burkina Faso, and cost inflation from fuel and inputs, which is especially important given 2026 consolidated AISC of $2,041/oz and Côté AISC of $1,963/oz versus guidance. Although 2027 AISC may fall about 19% as Côté reaches steady state, the stock still trades only at 4.4x 2027E EV/EBITDA and faces meaningful valuation risk from Nelligan and other development uncertainties.
