Sea (SE) Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Sea is attractive fundamentally because its three businesses are all compounding at once: 2Q26 GAAP revenue rose 48% y/y to $7.8bn, Shopee GMV increased 28% to $38.3bn, Monee revenue grew 59%, and Garena bookings climbed 15%. The key bullish driver is improving quality of growth, as Shopee is showing visible ROI from logistics, fulfillment, ads, and VIP initiatives, with management guiding to >$1bn of FY26 Shopee adj. EBITDA while still targeting ~25% GMV growth. Meanwhile, Garena’s Free Fire remains durable with >100m average DAUs in its ninth year and Monee’s loan book reached $11.1bn with a stable 1.0% 90-day NPL, supporting earnings durability and margin expansion.
Bears say
Sea is pressured by macroeconomic uncertainty, geo-political tension, currency exposure, and intensifying competition across e-commerce, gaming, and fintech, which could blunt growth and profitability even as it maintains leadership in Southeast Asia. Shopee’s 1Q26 revenue rose 44% y/y to $4.5BN and take rate improved to 12.1% from 10.9%, but management’s ‘26 EBITDA guidance implies margin compression as fulfillment penetration is doubled and VIP loyalty is ramped, while value-added services fell 8.1% y/y due to higher shipping subsidies. Garena remains vulnerable to the hit-driven nature of Free Fire, and Monee’s expansion into lending and off-Shopee use cases adds credit and execution risk despite strong momentum in average loan per user and Brazil’s still-low SPayLater penetration.
