Woodward (WWD) Analyst Ratings
Bulls say
Woodward is attractive because its revenue base is being pulled by multiple secular growth engines, including commercial aerospace OEM and aftermarket demand, defense-related content, and accelerating industrial power-generation exposure tied to data centers and LNG infrastructure. The latest quarter showed strong execution, with revenue up 23% year over year to a record $1.09B, adjusted EBITDA up 31% to $215.5M, and adjusted EPS up 34% to $2.27, while both Aerospace and Industrial posted margin expansion. Management’s raised FY26 guidance for sales, EPS, and margins, plus capacity additions and portfolio optimization, support confidence in sustained growth and incremental profitability despite near-term supply-chain and investment pressures.
Bears say
Woodward is facing a negative fundamental setup because nearly 36% of revenue comes from its top 5 customers and its Aerospace business remains highly exposed to Boeing and Airbus production schedules, pricing pressure, and program health. At the same time, the company is in a heavy investment phase, with CapEx set to roughly double or more year over year and a “couple hundred million dollars” tied to a new U.S. facility for the A350 spoiler actuator win, while initial deliveries are not expected until late CY28. This front-loaded spending, combined with learning-curve and low-rate initial production dilution, has already reduced free cash flow and leaves Woodward vulnerable to execution slips, supplier disruptions, and a mismatch between rising capital intensity and eventual volume.
